So its been almost two weeks now since Placebo had their 2 night  Brixton Academy. At the end of Evaline’s set they mentioned about playing at the Camden Barfly on the Thursday after the gig, I thought why not go see them play there too. It could be fun, after all the Barfly is tiny. It came round to Thursday and me and my brother made our way down to Camden, and when we got there something magic happened. I heard a voice I recognised, I turned around and it was Steven Forrest. He said something to the effect of ‘Steve has arrived’. I had to try to calm down, I hate being such a fan boy, but I couldn’t help it. Steve didn’t come alone either, he came with Bill Lloyd too and some friends. It wasn’t long before they disappeared, but I managed to get Bill’s autograph before they did.

So we made our way upstairs and then Evaline took to the stage, and suddenly there was Steve again. He was so enthusiastic he was cheering and waving his arms in the air. There wasn’t a big crowed there, and it turns out that Evaline were a late addition to the bill, but it was cool to see them play on a smaller stage. The front man, Richard Perry has a really good stage presence, really engaging and vibrant. So when they finished playing their relatively short set, I managed to grab a setlist (before they even left the stage). I also managed to get almost the whole band to sign it.

Steve hung around after they finished and I built up the courage to talk to him, and he was really nice and cool. I remember having a conversation with him, although the details are a little fuzzy, he talked about the type of drum sticks the new drummer of Evaline uses, and how good they are, and he confirmed something for me that I had heard only rumours from other people. The Brixton Academy gig on the 28th was being filmed for a DVD to be released near Christmas! I got Steve to sign the Evaline setlist as well, explaining that I knew it had been a long time since he had played with them but, and he was more than happy to sign it.

I didn’t need anything to make those two dates in September to make it more special but this really topped it off for me. Meeting Steve was really cool, and seeing how laid back and kind he was was great. So here are a few pics to confirm this actually happened.
